Arboleda drains free throws for Altas to outlast Red Lions

Harold Arboleda drilled in the crucial game-winning free throws with 0.2 seconds left for Perpetual Help to stun San Beda in a 76-75 score in the NCAA basketball Tournmament.

Arboleda dropped the key baskets of the ballgame, scoring four points in the last 1:44 for Perpetual Help. Arboleda was fouled in his pump fake by Art dela Cruz to set him up for the two free throws that mattered most.

The Altas have the lead 63-49 after the third quarter. However, San Beda stormed back within two points, 74-72, through a 16-6 spurt with 35 seconds left in the game.

In the next possesion, Gab Dagangon missed a jumper and Juneric Baloria fouled Ola Adeogun, who made his first free throw but missed the second one.

With the win, Perpetual Help (9-6) is just half a game behind JRU and College of St. Benilde, which have 9-5 records, occupying the third and fourth spots.

On the other hand, San Beda still holds the No. 1 seed with 13-3 record but it failed to secure the twice-to-beat incentive.

Arboleda ended up scoring nine points and Baloria had 22 points for the Altas.

Meanwhile,  Adeogun had 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Red Lions.
