College of St. Benilde beat the San Beda Red Lions 83-76 to spring a big surprise in the biggest upset so far in the NCAA Season 90 men’s basketball tournament on Monday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Mark Romero’s clutch performance led the way as he poured out 12 of his game-high 20 points output in the final quarter. While Paolo Taha and Jonathan Grey added 16 and 15 points, respectively, to help the Blazers oust the Red Lions.
Blazers continued their resurgence with a third straight win after starting the season at 0-3. The San Beda Red Lions suffered its first loss of the tournament after winning its first 5 games.
Point guard Baser Amer led the Red Lions with 18 points while center Ola Adeogun have a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
