MLB Playoff 2014: Oakland Athletics vs Kansas City Royals TV Schedule, Start Time and Preview

The Oakland Athletics take on the Kansas City Royals in the Wild Card Game of the American League at 8:07 PM at the Kauffman Stadium.

This is the third straight season for the Athletics to be in the playoff while the Royals would the first since 1985. The game is expected to live up to the anticipation of many as James Shields gets the nudge for the Royals and Jon Lester for the A’s.

In the last three starts, Lester was 2-1, 20 innings pitched, 1.8 ERA, 6 walks and 21 strikeouts. On the other hand, Shields was 0-1, 19.2 inning pitched, 4.12 ERA, 3 walks and 16 strikeouts.

”I’ve only been here for two years,” Shields said Monday, ”but when I got traded over here, I knew the magnitude of what this organization was headed for. And when I got here, walking around the city and talking to the fans and really relishing the 29 years, it’s a special moment.”

”We have a great opportunity ahead of us,” said Lester, who some thought should have been the MVP of last year’s World Series, when he went 2-0 with an 0.59 ERA against St. Louis.

The winner of this wild card game will face the Los Angeles Angels in a best-of-five division series that starts on Thursday.
