Michigan State Spartans vs Purdue Boilermakers: Odds, Point Spread, TV Schedule, Start time,and Preview

The Michigan State Spartans may not have the big jump in the AP Poll standings after other teams ahead of them dropped their respective games, but if there would be the battle for the one loss teams, it would help them in the future.

Michigan State (4-1) takes on Purdue (3-3) on Saturday October 11, at 3:30 PM at the Ross-Ade Stadium, West Lafayette, IN.

After surviving a 27-22 victory over Nebraska last Saturday, the Spartans continue to be part of the conversations as one of the contenders in the college football playoffs. Michigan State have forgotten their lost to Oregon, climbing one nudge in the AP Poll.

Connor Cook completed 11 of 29 passes for 234 yards, one touchdown against one interception. Cook controlled the game with ease until the team struggled to score in the fourth quarter. Tony Lippett had 104 yards in three receptions, including a touchdown to connect with his quarterback. Macgarrett Kings Jr. added 38 yards in two receptions.

Jeremy Langford is a big force in the running offense. He rushed for 111 yards in 29 attempts over the tight defense of Nebraska. He has to play with such power against the opponents’ defense to move the chains.

Offensively, Michigan State averages 257.2 yards in passing and 239.2 yards in rushing. Defensively, Michigan State yields 225 yards in passing and 72 yards in rushing per game.

The defense would be the key for the MSU Spartans to dominate the Boilermakers. It is in the realm of the defense of MSU to contain the offense of Purdue.

While Purdue seeks to improve in the passing offense, the Boilermakers need a balance offensive game over the vaunted defense of the Spartans.

Akeem Hunt was responsible for running 177 yards and a touchdown in 30 attempts to beat Illinois, 38-27, last Saturday. Akeem showed what he could do on the ground once given the opportunity.

Moreover, quarterback Austin Appleby rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns in seven attempts and added 202 yards and a touchdown in 15 of 20 passes. He was instrumental in making the big difference on the offense.

Offensively, Purdue averages 181.8 yards in passing and 170 in rushing. Defensively, Purdue yields 273.5 yards in passing and 135.2 yards in rushing per game.
