The Carolina Panthers face the Cincinnati Bengals in one of the NFL games on Sunday, at 1:00 PM ET, at the Paul Brown Stadium
Cincinnati, Ohio.
After a disappointing 47-13 loss to the Patriots, the Bengals want to bounce back and want to make sure that they are capable of recovering from the first defeat. Boosting with confidence as they look for their 12th game winning streak at home, the Bengals have to deliver the necessary offensive attacks to derail the Panthers.
Cincinnati has one of the best defense in the NFL. The Bengals are the best in scoring defense, limiting 11 points per game. They also are stingy in giving up yards until they allowed 505 yards to the Patriots.
“Anytime you get 43 points on you, that really hurts you,” defensive tackle Domata Peko told the team’s official website. “Believe me; we’re going to fix it. That’s the thing we take pride in around here.”
The Bengals lost three fumbles against the defense of the Patriots. This is the area in which opponents would take advantage. AJ Green, Brandon Tate, and Dane Sanzenbacher had one fumble each, all lost.
Andy Dalton completed 15 of 24 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns. He was efficient as a quarterback, but the turnovers made the difference for their demise.
Offensively, Cincinnati averages 257 yards in passing and 111 in rushing. Defensively, Cincinnati yields 250.8 yards in passing and 140 in rushing.
On the other hand, the Panthers pulled off a 31-24 win over the Bears last Sunday through their defense, allowing only 347 yards in comparison to 454 average in their losses to Baltimore and Pittsburgh.
Without a question, the pass rush of the Panthers worked well against the Bears. It is about to be seen if that defense would stifle the offense of the Bengals.
“It was great to see the pass rush get the chance to cut loose,” coach Ron Rivera said. “Again, when you get yourself into the position when you have a lead, you get them into the second- and third-and-longs, and you can cut it loose and get after the quarterback.”
One of the biggest problems of the Panthers is the rushing offense, an NFL low averaging 74.8 yards per game.
Offensively, Cam Newton might be effective in a no-huddle offense which they employed against the Bears. Greg Olsen would be the primary target in the passing game. Olsen had 72 yards in six catches last Sunday.
This is a monumental collision for both teams. The Panthers have the defense while the Bengals have the offensive attacks through Dalton.
