Prescott completed 18 of 27 passes for 331 yards, one touchdown against two interceptions over Arkansas. He struggled in the passing game with those interceptions. He added 61 yards in 13 carries on the ground.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs look to stay undefeated as they meet the UT Martin Skyhawks on Saturday’s college football schedule at the Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field, Starkville, MS.
Quarterback Dak Prescott has been the main reasons why the Bulldogs are on top of the College Football Playoff rankings. With Prescott at the middle, the Bulldogs have always the chance to capture a win. Against the Skyhawks, expect the Mississippi State to dominate the scoring.
Surprisingly, the Bulldogs are 5-0 in the highly competitive SEC but they struggled against Kentucky and Arkansas. Mississippi State has still two opponents in the schedule, a showdown over Alabama on November 15 and Ole Miss on November 29. With victories on those games, Mississippi State should be part of the first college football playoff.
While the offense of the Bulldogs is centered around Prescott, Josh Robinson continues to be part of the offense. He already amassed 11 rushing touchdowns and 951 yards on the ground. He also added six catches for 110 yards against Arkansas.
“Whatever opportunity presents itself, winning is the most important thing,” coach DanMullen said. “Our guys have been able to do that. They’ve bought into that.”
The offense has been doing its part for Mississippi State but the defense is the primary reason why the Bulldogs are still undefeated. Arkansas strongly started with a 10-0 lead but the defense stood for Missisippi State and never allowed the opposing team to dominate.
The Skyhawks are 1-17 against FBS counterparts, that includes a 59-14 season-opening defeat at Kentucky.
Offensively, Mississippi State football averages 267.4 in passing and 255 in rushing. Defensively, Mississippi State yields 311.1 in passing and 123.6 in rushing.
