Monday Night Football: tv channel schedule, Kick off time, Odds, Point Spread & scores, An important game

The Philadelphia Eagles host the Carolina Panthers for the Monday Night Football NFL showdown at the Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pa.

While the Eagles are top on the NFC East, it remains to be seen if they can stay in that position in the following weeks without starting quarterback Nick Foles, who suffered a broken clavicle in the first half in a 31-21 victory in Houston last week.

Philadelphia (6-2) dislodged Dallas (6-3) in the division race with the victory as the Cowboys lost to Arizona last Sunday.

Without Foles, the Eagles are not panicking at all because they have former New York Jets Mark Sanchez as the starter. After Foles got injured, Sanchez completed 15 of 22 passes for 202 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He drilled in a 52-yard pass to Jeremy Maclin in his first play.

”He’s already ready, he’s always focused and always prepared to make plays and that’s part of his makeup,” coach Chip Kelly said. “That’s what we really liked about him.”

Sanchez will have his first start since December 30, 2012. He missed last season because of injury, a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Sanchez had a 37-31 NFL record as a starter with 77 touchdowns and 72 picks, including post season games.

Offensively, Philadelphia averages 284.8 yards in passing and 124.5 in rushing. Defensively, Philadelphia yields 256.2 in passing and 116.9 in rushing.

Carolina (3-5-1) made the playoff in 2013 season. The Panthers may not be able to enter into the postseason via wildcard, that they must win the AFC South.

The Panthers started it right in the first two games with 2-0 record, but they were 1-5-1 after that. In these six games stretch, the Panthers have allowed 30.7 points per game to the opposing teams and yielding 134.8 per game in rushing in the last four games.

When the Panthers went into the playoff last season, they are regarded to have one of the best defenses in the NFL.

With the current development, coach Ron Rivera believes that they have a shot at the playoffs and that he is not giving up on his team after they were out of the first place in the NFC South on Oct. 30, losing to the New Orleans Saints, 28-10.

”I’ve been in a race like this before, we all have,” Rivera said. “It ends up being the team that comes back, that gets up and keeps fighting. The next thing you know, you’re right in the thick of things.”

Quarterback Cam Newton completed 20 of 28 passes for only 151 yards against the Saints. He has to level up his game if his team would beat the Eagles.

Offensively, Carolina averages 226.6 yards in passing and 94.7 in rushing. Defensively, Carolina yields 246.2 in passing and 131.9 in rushing.
