Chargers vs Chiefs: TV Channel Schedule, Kick Off Time, Smith will not play

The San Diego Chargers are on the verge of getting back into the playoff as they face the Kansas City Chiefs in one of the most anticipated games in the NFL on Sunday, December 28.

San Diego (9-6) is a win away from clinching a playoff spot but it will not come in a silver platter. with a momentum springing from a 38-35 overtime victory over San Francisco on Saturday, the Chargers would love be able to maintain their composure when it comes down to the last minutes.

Coming off from a 21 point deficit at halftime, the Chargers will try to have a strong start through Philip Rivers who was in low-key with only 83 yards and two interceptions at half-time. Rivers managed to climb back into the game by completing 24 of 40 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns in the second half and OT.

The Chargers playoff scenario is simple; just win this game and they are in. This means that the Chargers control their destiny and they know that they have to get it done.

Offensively, San Diego averages 256.6 yards in passing and 83.7 in rushing. Defensively, San Diego yields 219.1 in passing and 125 in rushing.

Kansas City’s playoff scenario is more complicated. The Chiefs (9-6) have to win this match and they need outside help, hoping that Baltimore and Houston would suffer defeats against their respective opponents.

To make the hurdle difficult, Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith will not suit in because of injury. He suffered a lacerated spleen in the third quarter last week in a 20-12 loss to Pittsburgh. Thus, the Chiefs will have to thread the needle to win this NFL game. Chase Daniel will be the replacement of Smith.

In week 16, Smith completed 31 of 45 passes for 311 yards without touchdowns. Nobody knows how Daniel will play against the rejuvenated defense of the Chargers.

Offensively, Kansas City averages 202.8 yards in passing and 120.5 in rushing. Defensively, Kansas City yields 200.2 yards in passing and 128.3 in rushing.
