Cactus Bowl 2015: Washington vs Oklahoma State TV Schedule, Scores and Highlights
The Washington Huskies will square off the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the 2015 TicketCity Cactus Bowl on January 2, 10:15 P.M. ET at the Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.
The Huskies under its Head coach Chris Petersen had a winning record on the road. Washington defeated the Hawaii Bulldogs in its first road game in a tight contest, 17-16. The Huskies blow out the California Golden Bears, 31-7, and took down the Colorado Buffaloes, 38-23. Washington also defeated the Washington State Cougars, in which the Huskies didn’t allow the Cougars to score for three quarters. The Huskies were 4 wins with two lost on the road.
The Huskies struggled against ranked opponents as they went to a 0-5 record. Washington nearly notched a win against Arizona but came-up short with one point. Washington was humiliated by Oregon, Arizona State and UCLA losing by an average margin of 18 points in those three games. In their five losses, the huskies only scored just eight touchdowns.
Washington line backer Shaq Thompson and Hau’oli Kikaha with the defensive linemen Danny Shelton anchored the defense of the Huskies. Thompson, Kikaha and Shelton were All-Pasicfic-12 conference first team selection. The Huskies will need more offense to their running back Dwayne Washington who had totalled 655 rushing yards with nine touchdowns.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys secured bowl eligibility in an overtime victory over the Oklahoma Sooners, 38-35. After a heartbreaking loss to Florida State, the Cowboys bounced back with five game winning streaks. But Oklahoma drops also their next five games until it notched a victory against the Sooners.
The Cowboys’ key in defense was its sophomore defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah. His sacks and tackles were one of the best in Big 12. Wide receiver Tyreke Hill carries the offense of the Oklahoma State, with his athleticism and explosiveness he had received a total of 281 yards and had a one touchdown.
