The Seattle Seahawks take on the Washington Redskins in the Monday Night Football on October 6, 2014 at the FedEx Field Landover, Md.
The defending Super Bowl champions Seahawks have all the necessary players to get back into the playoffs. While many believe that they are capable of upstaging another run at the Super Bowl, their lost to the fellow NFC West Arizona Cardinals poses a threat.
As the Seahawks desire to be the best in the NFL, they have to play every single week with focus and determination. Tonight, they will be against the Washington Redskins, who are currently struggling with a 1-3 record.
The Seahawks and the Redskins last game was in 2012 in the playoffs when two quarterbacks Robert Griffin III helped his team to win the NFC East title while Russell Wilson guided his squad to a wild-card berth.
Surely, Washington was promising at that time through Griffin but the Seahawks stole the show by scoring the last 24 points after trailing 14-0 to advance. After that year, the two teams went into different ways, the Seahawks won the Super Bowl while the Redskins have a record of 3-13.
The Seahawks displayed that they have what it takes to when big games when they outlasted the Denver Broncos 26-20 on September 21. Wilson completed 24 of 34 passes for 258 yards, two touchdowns against one interception to lead the Seahawks.
Part of the success of Seattle would be the receiving corps if they play well through Percy Harvin and Doug Baldwin. Also the rushing has been component of the wins of the Seahawks through Marshawn Lynch.
Offensively, Seattle averages 208.7 yards in passing and 148 yards in rushing. Defensively, Seattle yields 249 yards in passing and 72.3 yards in rushing. With the advantage in controlling the game through the ground, the Seahawks are expected to beat the Redskins.
The Washington Redskins are in the leadership of new hired coach Jay Gruden. While he hasn’t found the formula yet, the Redskins could still pull off an upset in the Monday Night Football, a reason would be that they are playing at home.
With RG3 out of the equation in the offense, Gruden has to utilize Kirk Cousins as the starting quarterback. It’s a brand new perspective when the Redskins have to play without RG3. And it would be a big challenge for Gruden to show forth what he got as the coach.
Washington terribly lost its previous game over the NY Giants, 45-14. Cousins played a horrible game by throwing four interceptions in 19 of 33 passes.
Moreover, the Redskins didn’t have the running offense on September 28, with only 63 yards from running back Alfred Morris. It is highly important for the Redskins to have the ground game against the vaunted defense of the Seahawks.
Offensively, Washington averages 292.2 yards in passing and 123 yards in rushing. Defensively, Washington yields 237.2 yards in passing and 87 yards in rushing per game.
