JRU’s composure is the key to beat EAC in a thriller

The Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers overwhelmed the Emilio Aguinaldo Generals, 81-71, in a thriller at the Arena in San Juan Friday.

John Grospe missed the second shot of his freethrow with 10 seconds left but Philip Paniamogan sealed the game by grabbing the rebound.

Jaycee Asuncion had 15 poins and three rebound for the Heavy Bombers, who are in a three-game winning streak.The Generals completed a 16-4 run when John Tayongyong made a layup to put EAC on top, 76-75, with 1:40 left.

JRU coach Vergel Meneses believed that his players have that composure to win games. “The composure is there, it’s slowly starting to develop among them,” Meneses said.

Moreover, Paniamogan scored 18 points while Teodoro added 14 points. Dave Sanchez helped the team by contributing 11 points.On the other hand, Tayonyong had 21 points, 10 in the fourth quarter. Noibe Happi and Jack Arquero scored 12 points apiece for the EAC.

JRU is currently in third place of the standing at 5-3, while EAC fell to a 2-6, ninth in the standing.
