Penn State vs Rutgers football: TV Schedule, Odds, Point Spread, Preview

Penn State Nittany Lions are boosted up by the NCAA’s lifting of bowl ban against the school. Now that they are eligible for the college football playoff, the Nittany Lions are elated to play with a better purpose and destination.

The Nittany Lions face the Scarlett Knights on Saturday at the High Point Solutions Stadium, Piscataway, NJ for the showdown that people want to see.

Penn State is filled with firepower that could compete against the powerhouse teams in the Big Ten. Quarterback Christian Hackenberg completed 22 of 36 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns. Hackenberg has been playing with passion as he leads the Penn State into early 2-0 record.

In the last game of Penn State, Eugene Lewis and Hamilton would create defensive mismatches against the defense of Rutgers. Lewis and Hamilton combined for 167 yards in 13 receptions. In addition, Jesse James and Bill Bilton added 106 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Clearly, the passing offense of the Lions has the powerful effect over the opposing teams.

In the running game, the Nittany Lions are not going to let go, with Akeel Lynch, Bill Bilton, and Zach Zwinak complimenting each other. Last week, they compiled for 101 yards on the ground.

Rutgers (2-0) may not be in the spotlight these days but this team has been able to make something through its offense. Gary Nova has been exceptional when he connected 15 of 19 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns. He has been playing at the high level, finding his receivers like John Tsimis, Leonte Carroo, and Andrew Turzilli.

The Scarlett Knights running game through James Paul could be dangerous to the opponents. James rushed for 43 yards, but he caught two touchdown passes for a combined of 100 yards.

Nova and James could take the game into another level over the defense of the Nittany Lions. Also, the balance offensive attack is needed so that Penn State would be confused defensively.
