Alabama vs Southern Mississippi football: TV Schedule, preview, odds and point spread

The Alabama Crimson Tide consider this game as important as the others. Alabama faces Southern Mississippi on Saturday’s college football game at the Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, AL.

The Crimson Tide clobbered Florida Atlantic, 41-0, last week but they were bumped by the Ducks, through 46-27 win over No 13 Michigan State, in the Polls.

Alabama coach Nick Saban said the goal is “focus stamina”. He added, “to get better one thing at a time, one day at a time, one play at a time.”

Because of inconsistencies in the quarterback position, a battle for the starter is heating up between Blake Sims and Jake Cooker when they split time against Florida Atlantic. Saban might do the same again, sharing time, over the Mississippi State in preparation for Florida Gators.

“I know that you all (reporters) would love to create a quarterback controversy,” Saban said in one of his interviews. “But I think as much as you might try to do that, the one thing that I noticed that I wish you noticed is that after Jake Coker’s touchdown pass, who was the first guy to go jump up and give him a congratulations and a hug and all that? Blake Sims. Both guys are working to improve. We need them both to work to improve. Both players did good things in the game and both players did things that they can improve on.”

The real test for the Crimson Time is not against the Southern Mississippi State, it would come against Florida and Mississippi in the coming weeks. Alabama lost the grip from No 2 into No 3 but it is not the biggest concern for Saban. He knows that his team needs to win every game to be in the college football playoff.

The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles understand that they couldn’t match the firepower of the Crimson Tide. They hope to stay close through quarterback Nick Mullen and running back Ito Smith. But it would be a heroic day for the Golden Eagles if they would pull off an upset.

Expect the Alabama football vs Southern Mississippi to be exciting but probably a blowout. Moreover, never forget to watch how the two Alabama quarterbacks as they showcase their skills.
