Greece subdues Gilas Pilipinas in a defensive game

Georges Printezis scored 25 points and eight rebounds to help Greece in beating Gilas Pilipinas, 82-70, in Group B of the FIBA World Cup 2014 held in Sevilla, Spain.

Printezis displayed his offensive prowess as he connected his shots from inside and outside against the defense of Gilas Pilipinas. Greece scouted well they contained the outside shooting of Gilas, in which Jeff Chan was totally clobbered.

Greece controlled the tempo of the game early from the started. Greeks defense were suffocating that they limited the Filipinos in the first quarter to a 20-10 score.

Andray Blatche had 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Philippines. He tried to penetrate into the basket but the double team was always lurking around every time he touched the ball.

Center Jumar Pajardo effectively was part of the offense of Gilas as he scored 10 points. Marc Pingris added seven points for the losing cause of Gilas.

Gilas Pilipinas attempted to rally back in the third quarter but Greece continued to stop the fire raging from the Filipinos.
Coach Chot Reyes also tried to pose up Blatche but it didn’t work well as the defense of Greece forced him to pass the ball.
