Gilas Pilipinas faces powerhouse Argentina in the FIBA World Cup 2014 on September 1 in Sevilla, Spain.

Gilas Pilipinas might still be weary after losing to a tight game against Greece, 82-70, less than 24 hours before the time against Argentina. At 0-2 record, the Philippine Basketball team needs to win two of the three remaining games to have a chance to advance into the next round. In connection with this, this game is a much needed one, knowing that Senegal, already has one win.

On the other hand, Argentina did not expect to be in this situation, having 1-1 record before playing the Philippines.

Argentina is one of the favorites to win the FIBA World Cup 2014, outside the United States and Spain. With NBA players like Luis Scola and Andres Nocioni, the Argentinians are heavily favored against the Filipinos.

Before the start of the tournament, the Philippines considered to get the two wins from Senegal and Puerto Rico. Gilas Pilipinas can think about a potential upset against Argentina, which suffered a defeat also to Croatia. The Philippines has to decide to push it harder against Argentina or rest some of the players especially Andray Blatche, who hobbled in the game against Greece, so that they will have fresh legs against Senegal and Puerto Rico.
