UCLA vs Texas football: TV Schedule, Odds, Preview

No 12 UCLA takes on Texas, in what is considered to be one of the best matches in the college football, on Saturday at the AT&T Stadium, Austin, Texas.

Texas looks to find its own identity without starting quarterback David Ash, who sits out due to concussions and probably the end of his football career. The Longhorns have to rely on the sophomore quarterback Tyrone Swoopes, a dual-threat quarterback, who completed 20 of his 31 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown against one interception in a loss to BYU.

Texas coach Charlie Strong was not satisfied at all by the Longhorns’ loss to BYU. It would be hard for Strong to get back from the defeat, but he has to motivate his players to challenge the Bruins in Saturday’s game.

”Anywhere else I’ve been, some player would have run through there and tore all that down. They probably would have burned it in the locker room,” Strong said Monday. ”It’s like nobody did nothing. I did it just to see what we would do, see if somebody would just get (mad).”

Aside from losing Ash for this game, Jaxon Shipley is questionable due to head injury. Moreover, Texas has two suspended tackles would not be playing also.

Texas has to take all things with determination in a week by week basis so that they would be able to win some games. The Longhorns have to start playing with passion, despite of the missing players, over the Bruins.

Meanwhile, the Bruins have problems of their own. They started No. 7 in the nation but has dropped into No. 12. This implies that the Bruins haven’t satisfied the polls in their past two outings against Virginia and Memphis.

Though the Bruins defeated the Cavaliers (28-20) and the Tigers (42-35), their defense has to be fixed, giving up 469 yards total offense against Memphis.

UCLA coach Jim Mora knows that the defense of the Bruins withstood the offenses of their past two opponents but not against the high-powered offenses in the Pac-12.

Junior quarterback Brett Hundley’s impact in the offense of the Bruins would be big enough to capture a win. Furthermore, ten starters in the offense from 2013 roster are back for the Bruins. This provides chemistry to attack the defense of the Longhorns.
